August 2015
Well, we're just not very good at keeping the website updated, however, Obray is good at keeping our Facebook page updated usually on a weekly basis, so that's the place for you to go!

We continue to go from strength to strength with so many people becoming regular customers. We are in the process of rebranding as we are definately more of a relaxed, informal gift shop than a gallery and have decided to drop the word "Galleries".

September sees the return of the much admired Dorset artist, Howard Flanagan. Last November his photo-realistic paintings flew out the door and he managed to paint several commissions all before Christmas. When you see his work you'll understand how many hours he spends creating each one and what a task that was. I have to put a notice on them to say they are paintings and not photographs!

see you soon!

November 2014
We've had a lovely summer, with the door open and people enjoying coffee sitting out on the front table. The shop is well stocked for Christmas with lots of lovely unusual handmade gifts with many original pieces.

We've also started our monthly art exhibitions with Howard Flanagan's astonishing photo-realistic artworks. No-one seems to believe us that they are pieces of artwork and not photographs! They have been selling really well so we are very happy with our decision.

We look forward to helping you with your Christmas gift list!

May 2014
We had an absolutely outstanding Christmas season and a lot of people received beautiful handmade gifts for Christmas. We have grown to over 70 exhibitors now with new ones joining and new stock coming in all the time. If you love handmade, unique items, we're definately the shop for you!! Just browse through our Artisans to see what we have.

We've purchased some specialist printing equipment and will soon be selling hand-printed products using our artists images which will be exlusively used by us.

We shall again be at the Axe Vale Festival in the Axe Vale Community marquee 21/22 June, hope to see you there.

Our facebook page is constantly updated as is our Twitter.

August 2013

We have now been open for six months and we've had good days and quiet days! The weather has been challenging for a lot of people over the last few months, but it seems to have settled now and we're having great days, most days. Lots of people about shopping in the morning and, I suspect, succumbing to the call of the beach in the afternoon - who could resist!

We have grown quickly to 65 exhibitors and counting. Lots of art of every variety, and crafts galore, all beautifully handcrafted. We have created our Wish List scheme. You come in and complete your own Wish List which we keep. Your friends and family come in and ask for yours and they can then chose a gift for you that you both know you will love. No more anxiety about what to get for someone!

Lisa has been asked to take over the Chair of the Axminster Chamber of Commerce and has had a lot of support. This can only be a good thing for Apple Tree as she hopes to keep Axminster a wonderful town to visit with lots of lovely shops and places to eat.

Workshops, classes and social groups due to start in September and are beginning to fill up, so please book in now to avoid disappointment.

Emma has joined the team and works on Thursdays (and Mondays from September); Obray works Tuesdays/Wednesday and Sarah works Fridays. Lisa covers Saturdays (and Mondays at present) and whenever else she is needed in the shop!

See you soon,

Lisa, Obray, Emma and Sarah

March 2013

We couldn't be more pleased with the warm welcome we have received since we opened on 11 January.  We have had so many lovely comments about our warm welcome, atmosphere, display, quality, diversity and affordability!  Our good sales support this, as well as our ability to pass on commission work to our exhibitors.  We have quickly grown to over 55 exhibitors and now have a waiting list for wall space. We are updating the website with photos on the home page and Apple Tree Artisan information, but there's nothing like the real thing, so do please visit us and see for yourself!  Our locally roasted coffee, English grown tea and homebaked cakes are going down a treat too.

We have a new facebook page so please go on it and "like" us and be kept up to date with all our goings on! :

We are getting requests for craft and art classes and workshops.  If you are interested in being one of our tutors or would like to try, or learn something new, please let us know.  One idea is to start a Friday Fun Craft Club where you get to try something different every week.  We can accommodate groups of up to 6 in our Braeburn room. Please let me know if there is something that you would like to try/learn and I will see if I can find a tutor.  I am investigating poetry/writing classes, and possibly a reading group - anything creative!

Braeburn Gallery - The room is available for hire for a variety of uses eg exhibitions; temporary studio space; meeting room.  It is a well lit room with the addition of natural light through a skylight.  It is approx 9 foot square and is accessed through the coffee lounge/art gallery.  Why not pop in to take a look, it may be just what you are looking for!

We look forward to seeing you soon,
Lisa, Obray and Sarah

January 2013

We opened as planned on January 11th and are very pleased with how the Galleries look. The walls are covered in wonderful artwork and photographs. We have all sorts of crafts, handmade glass beads, furniture, ironwork, textiles, stained and fused glass, pottery and ceramics to name but a few. We have over 40 exhibitors all from Devon, Dorset and Somerset displayed in 1,000 square feet.

We've heard that we are serving the best coffee in Axminster! It is good coffee, locally roasted by Danny Parfitt who is passionate about roasting and making it. Our cakes are wonderful and moist, home baked by Kerri Spong. One customer exclaimed "Oh you have Tregothnan Tea how wonderful to come out and have a little luxury"! BloomBerry's fruit juice cocktails are always available for something different..

So come in a see for yourself and treat yourself to a little quiet time in our coffee lounge.

December 2012
The Axminster Artisan show went very well and we were overwhelmed with the positive response to opening the Galleries in January. We are still on target to open January 11th and look forward to building it up from there. If you would like to apply to exhibit with us please go to JOIN US for full details.

November 2012

We are planning to launch on 11 January 2013.

In the meantime, Wendy and I are running our last show as Axminster Artisans at Trinity House, Home in Style Shop Nov 24 - Dec 8. From December 12th we shall move the show to Apple Tree Galleries' location and close at Christmas until the launch.
