Carolyn King: Author and Illustrator

Lyme Regis, Dorset

Carolyn trained at Sir John Cass, Central St. Martins’ and Chelsea Schools of Art and Design. and her work often shows a serious sense of fun and a real love of drawing.

She has written and lectured on art in several Colleges both in the provinces and London where she and Philip ran a successful teaching studio and gallery.

Also exhibiting and selling widely with both paintings and Mosaic sculpture, (including recently the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition the SWA (selected painters) and Association of Illustrators show.

Carolyn has a Masters degree in Public Art and several commissioned works nation wide.

Major illustration clients include Oxford University Press and Transworld Publishing and the West Middlesex Hospital.

Her large animal sculptures recently inspired her children’s stories which are currently being made into books; the most recent, a tale in rhyme about an Ichthyosaur, is in partnership with Lyme Regis Museum and the Arts Council was release this Spring and is already a great favourite with schools and adults alike.

As well as recording uk and westcountry people and places, both Carolyn and Philip are presently documenting life in a small french farming community which provides inspiration for both their works. Carolyn calls them her little icons.

Her Mosaics are also displayed at the amazing 'Opus Mosaic' a glorious cave of inspirational work in Exeter

Carolyn is a member of BAMM (British Association of Modern Mosaic) who have international links and exhibitions.
