Hilary Buckley: Artist

Lyme Regis, Dorset

I always enjoyed art at school and used to attend various ‘arty’ evening classes, including painting, pottery and printing. However, with my work commitments (and a general lack of inspiration), I did not take up my paint brushes for many years.
Moving to Lyme Regis from Berkshire in 2007 has given me more time to express my love of colour and design.

I have joined local art groups and classes, experimenting with different media, including watercolour, oil pastels, soft pastels, acrylic, gouache and collage. I love Art Deco and this has inspired me to paint the varying patterns, shapes and contours of the local landscape in my own graphic style.

Since 2009 I have been involved in the annual September event: Lyme Regis ArtsFest. I have had my paintings exhibited at the ‘Gallery on the Square’ in Poundbury and, as a member of the Town Mill Arts Guild, have had work in several local exhibitions, at the Courtyard Gallery at Lyme Regis Town Mill.
