Howard Flanagan: Artist

Morcombelake, Dorset

Howard has received no formal training as an artist, his skills have been developed over a number of years. His style can only be described as photorealism – “If my work is not instantly recognisable, then I have failed to capture the detail and beauty of the subject frozen in time. Our landscape has been shaped over millions of years and it is only right and proper that I try and capture it in all its natural glory". Now living in West Dorset, overlooking Golden Cap and the Jurassic Coast, Howard takes his inspiration from the Dorset landscape and the beautiful, historical architecture within it. Howard can often be seen at weekends, walking the hills and coastal paths, close to his family home, with his Border collie at his side. He is never without a camera and a notepad to capture that special moment, ready to draw or paint when he gets back to his studio.
