Maggie Whiteman:Crafter

Axminster, Devon

Maggie’s interest in feltmaking was initially triggered 20 years ago by the wish to make use of the sheep fleeces on her organic farm – although, as she soon discovered, totally different breeds of sheep were necessary to make good felt!

Maggie has recently retired from farming and also from being Regional Coordinator for the Devon & Cornwall region of the International Feltmakers Association; a post which she had held for the past 17 years.

As Coordinator, she has organised a large number of workshops with international specialist tutors, and also an international feltmaking conference at Exeter University.

As a result, Maggie has been able to learn a great range of feltmaking skills from experts around the world.  Now living in Axminster, she is continuing her journey in feltmaking!
