Mick Crook: Potter

Axminster, Devon

Mick has always worked with his hands, but spent the majority of his working life using textiles as a cutter to the clothing trade, in London. He moved to East Devon in 1984 following his marriage and continued his career in this area while his family grew.

He became interested in ceramics and always enjoyed moulding clay. After a few local classes, his enthusiasm for working with clay was so apparent that his wife bought him a potter's wheel for his 60th birthday.

The garage soon became equipped with potter's paraphernalia and a kiln and now Mick designs and produces a variety of hand thrown earthenware pottery, celebrating the natural beauty of East Devon and the Jurassic coast.
